Alex Potter’s Profile

Me Against My Brother By Alex Potter

Me Against My Brother
Once a beautiful port city in northern Lebanon, Tripoli has descended into darkness in the wake of Syria's civil war. Sectarian and political conflict is on the rise, doing just as much damage to civilians psyche as the crumbling buildings throughout the city. The need for power and growing hatred has turned brother against brother once again in Lebanon.

Biography

Alex Potter is a photojournalist with particular interest in people and nations in transition. After growing up in rural Minnesota, Alex completed a Nursing degree at Bethel University in St Paul. Following graduation, she changed her path and turned toward a career in photography.  Her nursing degree has thus far proved useful.

In 2011, she completed a VII Master Class at Maine Media Workshops, followed several Occupy movements, and in February set out for the Middle East. She ended up in Yemen just before the presidential elections and stayed to document the transition. Alex has been recognized by the Lucie Foundation, American Photography, PDN Photo Annual, and the Chris Hondros Student Fellowship. She spent 2012 as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to Lebanon.

Alex is currently based in Yemen, but is available for assignment anywhere.
