Danny Ghitis (1982) was born in Cali, Colombia and emigrated to the U.S. at four-years-old. By age ten, his family had moved eight times before settling in South Florida. He began playing with a camera in 2004 at the University of Florida. After graduating in 2006 with a B.S. in Journalism, Danny interned at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and St. Petersburg Times newspapers.

The pursuit of Danny's elusive cultural identity informs his work, compelling him to question his surroundings and embrace constant change. He believes that strong imagery, as well as satire, can spark curiosity in every person. And that everyone, in turn, is capable of contributing to social progress.

He has been recognized by the Hearst Photojournalism Championship, College Photographer of the Year, the National Press Photographers Association, and received a University Scholars Award from the University of Florida for his research on the Ethiopian minority in Israel. He attended the Eddie Adams Workshop in 2009. Danny and Celia Tobin's "The Third Ward" was nominated for the UNICEF Photo of the Year competition in 2009. He also received the Nikon Emerging Talent Award in 2009.

Danny is a co-founder of the Pangea Photo Collective.
