In 2010 I attended the Eropolis Salon D'Erotisme in a convention hall in the Banliues outside of Paris.  I had expected that it was to be a convention for libertines but it was in fact a trade show for sex toy manufacturers, local strip clubs, and pornography production companies.  Also, according to some of the attendees it was a disappointment because the deepening financial crisis meant that most of the wares simply recycled from the previous year.  What I encountered was far less sexy than what I expected.  The cavernous convention venue was mostly given over to Live strip shows on stage, private strip tease booths, tables filled with fetish objects and sex toys, and a wild cross section of Paris' citizenry browsing for some cheap thrills.
