THE FACES OF ARMENIA

Armenia, a country with an unique past, is located in the Caucasus between Georgia, Azerbaidzhan, Iran and Turkey.                                     The autonomy after the end of Soviet Union provoked an economic crisis. The war against Aserbaidzhan for Nagorno Karabakh burdens still today the country and its people. On the other side the boarders to Turkey are closed. The government of Turkey refuses to acknowledge the armenian genocide.  I was travelling with the russian journalist Nuria Fatychova to interview armenian people in different stages of life. we met a student of the academy of music who will emigrate due to no hope for a future in Armenia, a wellknown armenian artist, a diaspora armenian woman from Los Angeles who came to live in yerevan making a documentary film about women´s life there, an old man who is a survival of the genocide, an old man an victim of the earthquake 1988, still living today in the provisional container under unworthy conditions, a young filmmaker, an unemployed engineer who drives taxi and prepares his emigration and dissident artists who hope to have the »yasmin revolution« soon in Armenia.
